Starting Tretinoin: A Beginner's Guide

Tretinoin is one of the most studied ingredients in skincare — but it rewards patience. Start low and slow.
Apply a pea-sized amount 2–3 nights per week on dry skin. Build up only once your skin tolerates it.
Daytime sunscreen is non-negotiable. Retinoids make skin more sun-sensitive, so SPF 50 every morning protects your progress.
Expect an adjustment period of 4–6 weeks. Mild dryness is normal; raw, painful irritation means you are going too fast.
